Other Information

Directions Southwood House is on the south(river) side of the B3047 immediately to the east of Martyr Worthy. Entrance to the field parking at the rear of the house is by a field gate adjacent to the Down House some 200 metres east of Southwood House. The field is rough grazed and includes a public footpath which should not be blocked. No parking in Southwood House drive which is reserved for cast and helpers. There is no access to the garden through the house.

If arriving on foot, access to the garden is via a path running down the far right hand side of the garden (as viewed from the road).

Weather We recommend warm clothes and availability of rain gear if rain is likely. Country shoes are sensible for the field.

Picnics Our evening performances have always included picnics. Please continue this tradition with tea and drinks. We ask the audience to bring their own folding chairs and rugs, removing all rubbish after the performance. No tables please. The garden will be open for an hour before performances and there will be a short interval. Choose your spot at which both to picnic and watch. Unnecessary moving can interfere with social distancing.

Access Limits There will be no access to the house, the terrace, swimming pool or tennis court. Assistance can be arranged for wheelchair access.

Lighting The performances will all finish in daylight. There will be no lighting to the garden or field. The only lighting will be some supplementary stage lighting.

Portaloos A single and a disabled loo will be available by the field gate. These will be provided with sanitiser but they will not be supervised.

Health and Safety/Insurance This is a private garden, No specific alterations have been made to guard against irresponsible actions that might lead to injury. Visitors attend performances at their own risk. Neither the owners of Southwood House and car park field nor the Southwood Players accept any responsibility for injury or damage to vehicles. However you are asked to note that the garden has a large population of rabbits. Please also take care on uneven slabs on the path from the field to the garden.

Collections There will be collections for one of the charities by bucket at each performance. Please contribute generously. They are all missing fund-raising events this summer of lockdown and badly need our support.

Cancellations Cancellation of individual performances is possible due to high winds or rain being forecast or unexpectedly interrupting the performance. In the event of an adverse forecast, we will issue notice of cancellation by 12 noon on the day. This will be done by a note on Southwood Players website and an e mail where we have your e mail address.

If we have to cancel a performance before it starts a refund will be available on request.
